Colaiste Caoimhin School

Client: Department of Education and Skills

Location: Drumcondra, Glasnevin, Dublin

Sector: Education

This Colaiste Caoimhin School project involved alterations to an existing building to provide temporary classrooms and ancillary areas. It also included site works.

The work areas were located within a residential area. They had occupied houses in close proximity of them with a public green area to the front. There were associated vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the surrounding roads, including baby buggies, bicycles etc. Allowances were made for these when the site entrances were being set up.

The work site was clearly delineated with fencing throughout the course of the Colaiste Caoimhin School project. No storage of materials were allowed outside of these areas. The site was also kept clean so that rubbish, materials etc. did not blow into nearby properties. We also ensured subcontractors kept their work areas clean on an ongoing basis.

We ensured any noisy operations and those that caused vibration were carried out when they would not disturb nearby activities. Where activities took place that caused dust the areas being worked on were hosed down with water. This minimised the spread of dust which could affect neighbouring properties or public areas.
